Who is responsible
Pavel Šich, the Czech Republic, is the controller of your data. Contact: hello@folio.ooo.
What Folio keeps
- Your account: email address, password (hashed, never readable), display name and time zone.
- Your library: the links you save, the copies of their text, pictures and videos, your notes, comments, sections and issues.
- Your devices: the names of the keys your apps and shortcuts sign in with, and when each was last used.
- Your plan: its status, your shares, and the IDs Stripe or Apple give your purchases. Folio never sees your card.
Folio uses this to run the service you signed up for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)), and keeps payment records for as long as tax law requires (article 6(1)(c)).
Who else handles it
- Hetzner Online, Germany: the server Folio runs on.
- OpenAI, USA: the text of each story you save, to write its summary and choose video stills. OpenAI doesn't train on it. Transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
- Stripe, Ireland: payments, invoices and VAT on the website.
- Apple: payments in the iPhone app, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Brevo, France: account emails such as the activation link.
How long
Your library stays until you delete stories or your account. Deleting the account removes everything above at once, apart from payment records the law requires Folio to keep.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, object to its use, or take it elsewhere. Write to hello@folio.ooo. You can also complain to the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ, uoou.gov.cz).
Cookies
Folio sets only the cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms. There is no tracking and no advertising.
